The Moon Jar is a combination of a traditional Mason jar, with high tech energy efficient lighting! Stored in the Moon Jar there is an extremely efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery and three low energy LED lamps. When the Moon Jar is placed in sunlight the solar cell creates an electrical current that re-charges the battery for a few hours each day. This energy is then used at night to power the three energy efficient lamps inside. The frosted jar diffuses the internal light to give the warm moonlight appearance. The LED lights are warm in colour to create a natural & warm light. You will find no switch or any visible controls as there is an internal light sensor that automatically activates the light when it is dark. Another great feature is the fact Mason jars are water tight as well as great looking - so the Moon Jar works outside in any weather conditions. A great solar garden lamp or night light for your child's bedroom. Direct sunshine is needed for this solar lantern to work, so place in a sunny window or outside for several hours to charge. Note, an internal electric light is not bright enough to charge.

Poor weather is bad news for a Moon Jar. In winter or cloudy weather your Moon Jar may illuminate for less time or not at all, due to insufficient sunlight. So for better performance in such conditions, switch off when charging (switch up). Then switch to the on position (switch down) when you want it on. This preserves battery life leaving it to light when you want it to. As a last resort you can also charge the batteries in a normal battery charger if the weather is particularly bad.
